Anyone that's gone back to games they used to love and subsequently realised the game, by today’s standards, is tripe will understand. I thought it'd be a good idea to get a whole host of spectrum games emulated to re-live all those classic gaming moments, and I ended up feeling a little dirty because I'd tarnished some sacred memories.
I've heard many people state that 2005 was a bad year for gaming, when I actually think people are just spoiled by the way games have constantly improved year-on-year (e.g. Wolfenstien to Doom to Half Life to Halo etc.) and people have gotten so used the potency of this current crop of consoles and games that they need to get their fix on something stronger and newer.
2005 may not have stood out as golden year for gaming, but it has setup 2006 to be a blinder with a whole host of promising gaming routes to satisfy the most jaded of gamer (i.e. the DS, PSP, X360, Revolution, PS3 and a greater number on people on broadband).
It's a very good time to be gamer.
